Many different organizations and individuals work against spam. Several regional organizations exist, most of which aim to see laws introduced to regulate unsolicited commercial email. Other organizations are formed from industry, and address problems that they experience from the torrent of spam currently sent. There are now regular opportunities for parties interested in stopping spam to meet and discuss the problem, with a rash of anti-spam conferences started in 2003.
